TIDE has been promoting Sarala stove as the on site constructed cook stove for rural homes, as a solution to the health hazards of traditional wood burning stoves. Sarala stoves consume about 30% less wood compared to traditional stoves and are constructed with chimneys to let the smoke out. TIDE has an innovative approach to this program where we train local women to construct the stoves who then market their skills and earn a livelihood through the Sarala stove program.
